Your legal responsibilities
All people in Australian workplaces are protected by State and Federal Health and Safety laws.
Under these laws, psychological hazards and risks are treated the same as physical hazards and risks.
Psychological risks and hazards are anything that increases the risk of work-related stress, and include high or low job demands, poor workplace relationships, poor organisational justice, remote or isolated work, violent or traumatic events, bullying and sexual harassment.
Employers have a legal responsibility to protect workers from psychological as well as physical risks to their health and safety.
