Over the years, Julie and Sue have collaborated with the changemakers in many organisations throughout Australia offering training and program development to private companies, government, and the community sector. Here are some of the companies they’ve worked with who have all had a desire to elevate and prioritise the mental health of their people.
AVELING
AVELING is one of WA’s largest Registered Training Organisations providing workplace training in safety, leadership and e-learning, with a strong presence in the construction, mining and resource industries. We worked with AVELING to develop e-learning and face to face training programs in mental health and suicide prevention for workplaces.

Our partnership with the team at the Institute has included:

MIFWA (Mental Illness Fellowship Of WA)
MIFWA is well established in WA’s metropolitan and some regional areas, providing community support for people with mental illness, their families and carers. We worked with MIFWA staff, volunteers and carers in building resilience, setting boundaries and practising empathy to support their very important work.
We also partnered with MIFWA and Media on Mars to develop Working Well, an online program for MIFWA staff with information and evidence-informed tips to support their own wellbeing.
SECCA (Sexuality, Education, Counselling and Consultancy Agency)
SECCA is a not for profit agency specialising in supporting people with disabilities and their families and carers in the area of relationship and sexuality. Sue has worked with SECCA in the development of the SECCA App and other innovative resources. She continues to provide consultancy support in business development and in advocating for SECCA with state and federal governments and other relevant stakeholders.
Trauma Risk Management forums (with international expert)
In partnership with the WA Mental Health Commission, we brought Professor Neil Greenberg, a world leader in trauma risk management and founder of March on Stress to Perth. During his visit we hosted two forums in which Professor Greenberg presented his peer support models of trauma risk management and workplace stress. The forums were opened by the WA Mental Health Commissioner and attended by many first responder organisations and mental health specialists.
Tuna Blue
We worked with Tuna Blue to undertake a series of statewide community consultations on suicide prevention for the WA Mental Health Commission. These consultations informed the development of WA’s new Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2021-2025.
WA Mental Health Commission (MHC)
We have undertaken a number of projects for the MHC including:
- Developing Workplace Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Standards for WA workplaces
- Investigating complaints in a government funded psychiatric hostel
- Developing This FIFO Life, an online mental health resource for Fly-in, Fly-Out workers and their families
- Writing and gathering stories of lived experience from people bereaved by suicide for an information booklet, What next?…when someone takes their own life.
Women’s Health and Family Services WA (WHFS)
Women’s Health and Family Services is a Perth based not for profit organisation that specialises in women’s health issues. We piloted a Workplace Wellbeing Survey developed by the Centre for Transformative Work Design with staff at WHFS.
